Hello everyone, happy back to Hogwarts day for those of you going back there ! For us who finished school a while back, I thought it would be a good idea to write about my visit to the Harry Potter Photographic Exhibition, in case you miss Hogwarts (we all do) and want to see it again without going to the Studio Tour. Shall we ?
Because the place is surrounded by muggles, you can't go to the Harry Potter Photographic Exhibition by broomstick or Portkey. Lucky you, the place is located near Covent Garden, in the city centre of London, so you can easily access it by muggles transportation, aka the subway. I'll let all the details in the useful links at the end of the post.
Right when you enter the place, you're greeted by a flying Ford Anglia and some Hogwarts letters showing you the way to go downstairs. Let's follow them, because that's where the magic happens !
I immediately started to smile when I was downstairs, to the pleasure of an amazing interactor who told me it's nice to see such a big smile. We then started talking about what is in the exhibition, and obviously the Studio Tour. After some chat and laughs, I started to explore and check all the photo opportunities, starting by this GIANT Hogwarts letter !
Now, imagine how big would need to be an owl to carry it ? Yikes.
The idea of the exhibition is to mostly have panels with trivia, backstage pictures, screens with interviews and photo opportunities:
There are some costumes, props and sets that are really nice, too !
I have to say, I started to get emotional while walking through the room, and even now, remembering this place is making me feel like someone is cutting onions near by.
Oh, and do you want to know the best part ? There is also a Butterbeer bar, the only Butterbeer bar in London ! A ticket for the Exhibition was needed to access it for a while, but they decided to open it to everyone.
I had to get a fresh Butterbeer (coming with a really nice souvenir stein) and look at this cute chocolate frog cupcake ! Get in my belly !
I don't like the Butterbeer from the Studio Tour (I think it's just soda and cream), but the bottled one is delicious (and super sugary, I can't drink a lot of it). I recommend you to try it if you can ! Also, the stickers are made by Mina Lima and there are apparently different ones (I only ever seen this one and it's my 5th Butterbeer bottle, tell me if you see another one !)
The Butterbeer bar itself is gorgeous, on the walls you can find some pictures from the movie (Butterbeer related, of course), it really feels like a proper pub in the Harry Potter world !
I'd highly recommend you to check this place to get your Butterbeer fix (or simply escape from the muggles world for a while).
Overall, I had a great time ! The interactors are really nice, the exhibition itself contains lot of information, the atmosphere there is really magical and the Butterbeer bar is top notch !
The price of the entrance is 20 per adult and 14£ per children, and the exhibition is apparently here to stay !
I hope you enjoyed this post, please tell me if you go to the exhibition and what you thought of it !
